In short

When you visit this site

Your browser loads the page from Cloudflare, which hosts the site. As with any web host, Cloudflare handles your internet (IP) address and browser details to deliver the page and keep the service safe, under its own privacy policy. Its dashboard shows the operator traffic totals.

Counting visits

Cloudflare Web Analytics counts visits and how fast pages load. It uses no cookies and stores nothing in your browser. It runs a small script from Cloudflare, which reports to Cloudflare under the same privacy policy.

What the site counts itself

When the map page opens, it tells this site that it was viewed, which view it shows, and the name of the website you came from, if your browser shares it (only the name, such as news.example, never the rest of its address). When you pick a view, open a state or follow a link to another website, the page tells this site which one: the view's name, the two-letter state code, or the other website's name without the rest of its address. The site keeps that with the country Cloudflare infers for the visitor and, for page views, the device type (phone, tablet or computer), which it works out from your browser's description and then discards. It does not keep internet (IP) addresses, browser details, full addresses or anything that identifies a person. It sets no cookie and stores nothing in your browser. The counts are kept as daily totals, such as “41 views from phones on November 6”, for 400 days, and as individual counts in Cloudflare for about three months.

When the page runs on another website

If the page's code is copied and run on another website, it reports that website to this one, to find unauthorized copies. It never runs on this site. Each report that gets stored holds:

It does not store internet (IP) addresses. Records are deleted automatically after 366 days. New copies are listed in an email to the operator with those details. The site's logs for this report leave out the request itself, including the address it carries.

When you send an email

Mail to an address at electionflips.com passes through Cloudflare and an email forwarding service to a private inbox. Your address and message are used only to handle what you wrote about. They are kept only as long as that takes or as records of security and legal matters require, and they are not used for marketing.

Who else sees data

Only the service providers named above, and anyone the law requires it to be given to. No personal information is sold or shared for advertising.

Children

The site is not aimed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their personal information.

Your choices

The site holds no profile of you. To ask about an email you sent, or to have it deleted, write to contact@electionflips.com. Privacy rights differ by state and country, and a request will be handled under the law that applies.

Changes

If this changes, this page changes first, with a new date. That includes any future advertising, which would be described here before it starts.
